Proximities and “The Drumheller Albertosaurus,” 2005

In Proximities: Artists’ Statements and Their Works, Kamloops Art Gallery, 2005, the participating artists were invited to create a work that explored the manner in which studio production is articulated through written or other modes of communication. In my contribution, ”The Drumheller Albertosaurus,” I drew upon a number of family documents and existing works to consider a dinosaur bone found by my brother Hamish in 1966 as a potentially latent source behindmuch of my artistic practice.
