Court House and “The Kamloops Archipelago,” 2005

In Court House projects by four artists (Panya Clark Espinal, David Hoffos, Ernie Kroeger, and myself (project organizer)) provided a discussion forum for participants from such academic disciplines as Cultural Theory, English and Philosophy (Bruce Baugh, W.F. Garrett-Petts, Walter Lew, Glen Lowry and Celeste Olalquiaga) Collectively, the project explored Vernacular Modes of Artistic Inquiry. Staging Vernaculars, a 2007 co-publication of Vancouver’s West Coast Line and Contemporary Art Gallery, includes contributions from all participants. My installation, “The Kamloops Archipelago,” represented Kamloops as an ocean landscape during the Palæozoic era. Please click on an image below to view a larger version.

Funding for this project was provided through a Research/Creation grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
